Restoration
Restoration is the process of returning building systems to an original intended state of functioning, or enhancing their performance in light of your current needs, which may not have been anticipated or required as part of the original design.
Examples of such building systems include façade and building envelope systems, such as stucco, sealants, glass and glazing systems, roofing and waterproofing; structural systems such as conventionally reinforced, post-tensioned concrete, and steel; and vertical transportation systems including elevators and escalators.
DeSimone’s integrated, in-house team of specialists have the expertise required to restore and enhance all of these building systems, integrating structural analysis and design, façade and building envelope consulting and engineering, vertical transportation assessment and design, and structural detailing services within a single organization.
We are accustomed to working on existing buildings ranging in age from newly completed to landmarked buildings with 100+ years in service, and are well-positioned to support clients with complex restoration and capital improvement projects. We will help you to plan, design, and budget for a positive outcome that meets your needs.
We work in a variety of climates and environments, from the extremes of cold within the northeastern and midwestern US, the hot, humid, and salt-laden environment of South Florida and the Caribbean, to the extreme temperature fluctuations of the Middle East. Our experience includes the design and construction of new buildings and the restoration of existing buildings in both hurricane-prone and earthquake-prone regions.
