Kien Nguyen
Highly skilled in dynamic and vibration analysis, Kien Nguyen guides our engineering teams through comprehensive structural analysis and design for complex steel projects.
As an Associate in our Overland Park, Kansas office, Kien assists with day-to-day management of the office, and collaborates with DeSimone teams globally.
His diverse structural engineering portfolio ranges from industrial facilities, data centers, life sciences, and energy facilities to commercial, military, water, environmental, aviation, and transportation structures.
As a mentor to younger engineers, he draws upon his years of experience in academia, driving improvement through continuous learning and leveraging the latest tools and technologies to devise innovative solutions to complicated engineering challenges.
Kien has performed load rating for more than 100 bridges across the Midwest, evaluating a wide range of materials, sizes, and structural systems for each. He has led the structural analysis and design of a large army ammunition plant in Iowa, and developed specifications for steel structures built with cranes and elevated walkways. He has managed the structural engineering for major renovation projects in California and Missouri and led the structural design for two mission-critical data centers in a tornado-prone region of Ohio.
