Wasl Tower, a sculptural, twisting silhouette rising nearly 1,000 feet (302 m), adding to the beautiful Dubai skyline, has been recognized with a new round of awards and accolades, including:
> ACI First Place Winner, High-Rise Structures — 2026 American Concrete Institute Excellence in Concrete Construction Awards
> ENR Global Best Project, Residential/Hospitality—2026 Engineering News-Record Awards
> CVU Best Tall Building by Height, 300 Meters and Above—2026 Council on Vertical Urbanism Awards
> CVU Best Tall Building in the Middle East and Africa—2026 Council on Vertical Urbanism Awards
Our structural engineering team, led by Principal Ahmed Osman, PE, and Senior Associate Aditya Kanodia, PE, teamed up with one of the project’s bidding contractors, Arabtec, to assist them in winning the project by conducting a critical value engineering and design review. Our role expanded, with our team ultimately making a tremendous impact on the success of the project through the development of an innovative, design-build, material-efficient, and highly buildable structural design.
This optimized design transformed the construction approach to the project, saving nearly 4,000 cubic yards of concrete and 20,000 metric tons of structural steel—trimming an estimated $55M USD from the initial design on construction materials alone.
Congratulations to the exemplary DeSimone and project team, including Wasl Group, UNS, Werner Sobek and Arabtec Construction, with a special thank you to our Chairman and CEO, Stephen DeSimone, PE, for his tremendous support of our team working on Middle East projects and operations.
