James Bonanno
Specializing in steel design, design management, and project planning, James Bonanno has managed a broad range of projects out of our New York office.
As principal, he collaborates with clients, designers, builders, and construction managers to develop unique structural solutions and advise on alternative project delivery approaches, including Fabrication Ready Modeling. His strategies allow projects to meet demanding schedules and tight budgets.
Recent projects include renovations to New York Historical, a museum originally built in 1908, including the addition of an adjacent 70,000 SF annex, Far Rockaway Village, an eight-building affordable housing community in New York, and two adjacent 400-foot residential towers on Jackson Avenue in New York City, one of which cantilevers 21 feet over an active New York City subway line. His portfolio also includes the Brooklyn Law School Library, the Jacksonville Public Library in Florida, and the Barrymore Film Center in Fort Lee, New Jersey.
James’ past projects include the Columbia University School of Nursing, SkyView Parc, a nearly-4M SF mixed-use development in Flushing, Queens, the Turkish Consulate, a slender, 561-foot concrete tower across from the United Nations in Manhattan, and the 846,000 SF International Gem Tower, a steel-framed office tower in New York City.
