Our design solutions for complex construction challenges are part of a larger, holistic approach that ensures critical building systems align with core layouts, demand and capacity, and envelope performance. So, what happens when your project isn’t in alignment?

Our clients turn to our structural forensic engineers for answers to their most challenging project questions. We offer forensic structural evaluations through our licensed Professional Engineers, who conduct a thorough investigation of damage to structures, building systems, and equipment. We decisively identify the cause and origin of a building system failure. We also analyze the impact of disasters, accidents, and material defects. DeSimone’s work yields conclusive findings, supplemented with detailed documentation and repair recommendations.
We draw upon decades of experience with the design and restoration of structures, façades and building envelopes, including specialized expertise with curtain wall and related waterproofing systems. Consequently, our forensics team can evaluate new and vintage building envelope systems, in addition to providing remedial design and repair solutions for defective components.

We conduct on-site inspections, test materials and systems, and engineer analysis using sophisticated simulations to determine exactly why structures have sustained damage or experienced failure. Investigations can involve any number of building conditions, from leaks and glass failure to unsafe, non-compliant parapets.
As a global practice, DeSimone can rapidly mobilize almost anywhere to evaluate impacts to the built environment. In recent years, our team has performed investigations following hurricanes in the Caribbean, earthquakes in Central America, collapses in South America, and a multitude of disasters nationwide.
The initial stage of our forensic structural evaluation process involves locating any deficiencies in the construction or design of a structure. This work is followed by the determination of whether flaws contributed to the damage or failure. Once our specialists verify the root cause, they supply clients with a report that defines the full scope of damages and suggested methods of repair.
