One Brickell Riverfront Reaches Full Height

Miami's One Brickell Riverfront development has reached a major milestone: the architectural crowns of LOFTY Brickell and The Standard Residences have been installed, bringing both towers to their full height of nearly 550 feet. DeSimone's structural engineering team was proud to be on site to celebrate the achievement.

Rising 44 and 46 stories, the towers add sculptural elegance to the Brickell skyline. Their distinctive silhouettes are defined by curved edges, expansive wraparound balconies, and floor-to-ceiling glazing, while a shared podium visually unifies the development. A perforated metal screen wraps portions of the podium, creating a striking illuminated presence after dark.

While connected architecturally, the two cast-in-place concrete towers were engineered by DeSimone to perform independently. A full expansion joint separates the structures, allowing each tower to respond individually to wind forces, reducing lateral load transfer, accommodating long-term building movement, and enhancing occupant comfort.

To support an accelerated construction schedule, our team implemented a shear wall system that could be constructed independently of the floor plates. Combined with a hydraulic self-climbing formwork system and post-tensioned slabs, the design streamlined construction while maintaining structural efficiency. Complex shear wall transfers were further optimized through the strategic use of embedded steel plates, enhancing overall performance.

Scheduled to open in mid-2027, LOFTY Brickell and The Standard Residences will deliver 784 residential units, complemented by expansive amenity decks, resort-style pools, and a private marina. Congratulations to the entire project team on reaching this impressive milestone.
