Resorts World Las Vegas
When the Genting Group set out to open its latest resort and casino on the Las Vegas Strip, they selected the partially built site of the previously planned Echelon Place—a mixed-use development halted during the 2008 economic downturn.
Genting acquired the project in 2013 with plans to redevelop it under the Resorts World brand, retaining and incorporating foundations and partially constructed superstructure elements from the original design.

DeSimone collaborated with the client and project team to deliver a multi-building resort that includes hotel towers, gaming floors, ballrooms, entertainment venues, restaurants, and multiple pools. The structural design leveraged previously constructed components, integrating them with new elements to meet current design goals. To facilitate this, DeSimone used advanced structural analysis software to evaluate and optimize the existing concrete and steel systems.
Design flexibility was critical, particularly as program requirements shifted throughout design and early construction. DeSimone’s structural solutions allowed for adaptive planning—such as using moment frames with SidePlate connections instead of conventional shear walls. This approach enabled a lateral system that could accommodate multiple pool layout options on the fifth floor without major redesign.
