50 Hudson Yards
Designed by Norman Foster with a neo-modernist aesthetic emphasizing efficiency, massive scale, and structural transparency as part of the 28-acre redevelopment of Hudson Yards in Manhattan, this 58-story supertall features large office floor plates to meet the needs of modern tech and finance giants—with some spanning over 50,000 SF. The stacked-and-staggered, three-block design diminishes in size as the building rises, wrapped in a floor-to-ceiling glass curtain wall accented with white granite and stainless steel.

One of the largest office buildings in New York City, the composite concrete and steel structure features a massive, reinforced concrete core for stability, connected by post-tensioned cable ties to an outer core made of steel, metal decks, and concrete slabs, featuring a perimeter steel frame that moves the steel columns to the building periphery to create some of the largest open-plan office spaces in New York City.
DeSimone’s team provided connection engineering, value engineering, and shop drawing review for compliance with connection design, as well as assisting with the management of the steel package, including detailing, steel procurement, and fabrication-ready modelling for over 30,000 tons of structural steel.
Built over 30 railroad tracks during the Covid-19 pandemic, our team engaged in highly detailed coordination with the Related project management team to help assure smooth delivery and erection of the steel package and tower crane installation, as well as manage building sway tolerances and the integration of the facade's stone-clad structural elements.
