John Viise

An expert in wind and seismic engineering and tall building design, John has designed high rise and specialty structures around the world.

As managing principal in our Chicago office, he leads teams of structural engineers working on some of our most complex projects.

Current projects include Paramount Tower, a 750-foot residential high rise that will stand as the tallest building in Tennessee, the 32-story 370 North Morgan Street in Chicago’s Fulton Market neighborhood, Oracle’s new 70-acre world headquarters in Nashville, Vanderbilt Residences in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and a massive confidential development in the Middle East.

Before joining DeSimone, John’s international experience included the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, World Trade Center Abu Dhabi, a two-tower mixed-use development, and the Hong Kong Convention Center, the site of the 1997 handover ceremony marking the transfer of Hong Kong from British to Chinese control.

John lectures at universities across the country and serves on architectural juries at several institutions, including the Harvard Graduate School of Design.
