Darren Paine
A Chartered Engineer with over 30 years of experience, Darren Paine leads DeSimone’s practice in the north of England as a firm Principal.
Throughout his career, Darren has focused on the design process and how thoughtful, refined structural design can drive more economic, efficient, and sustainable solutions. His portfolio includes award-winning residential high-rise buildings, commercial buildings, educational facilities, bridges, and world-class art installations.
Currently, Darren serves as project director for Parkside, a 41-story residential tower, Contour, two residential towers that are part of the Great Jackson Masterplan, and Crown Street Phase 3, a four-tower residential development with a unique, staggered façade that maximizes views across the city—all in Manchester, England.
Notably, prior to joining DeSimone, Darren also led the structural design of some of the tallest towers defining the Manchester skyline, including Deansgate Square’s north and east towers and The Blade, and played a key role in the design of the iconic Bird’s Nest Stadium in Beijing, China.
