Darren Kent
The leader of DeSimone’s façade practice in the United Kingdom, Darren oversees the design, sourcing, fabrication, testing, construction, and operation of façade systems.
Darren is a chartered engineer with 28 years of experience in the façade industry and has been responsible for the design and delivery of custom façade systems at all stages of the project cycle. He is a leading expert in geometrically complex building envelopes, aluminum curtain walling technology, bespoke steel and glass structures, blast engineered resilience and fire safety. His portfolio at Desimone includes a range of new-build developments, the refurbishment of existing buildings, and expert advisory work.
His earlier projects include the recladding of five residential towers at the Chilcot's Estate at 61 Oxford Street, London, a mixed-use development with a rippling glass façade, and the Çiftçi Towers, two 45-story towers in Istanbul, Turkey.
Darren has represented the Society of Façade Engineering on external committees addressing fire safety of façades and contributed to the development of new industry guidance. Additionally, he has led forensic investigations in disputes concerning the technical compliance and failure of external envelope systems.
