Benjamin T. Downing

A member of the DeSimone team for more than 30 years, Benjamin Downing leads a team of structural engineers working across a number of our most active sectors as Managing Principal of our New Haven, Connecticut office.

Benjamin has extensive experience with fast-tracked and design-build projects with accelerated schedules, residential projects, assisted living facilities, hotels, gaming and entertainment venues, educational facilities, labs, airports, and restorations.

Benjamin’s current projects include 30 Journal Square, a 68-story mixed-use concrete residential tower in Jersey City, the new Tweed New Haven Airport Terminal, and 2811 Kirby in Houston, Texas, where office and residential buildings share a six-story podium.

Previous projects include the Mohegan Sun Resort and Casino in Uncasville, Connecticut, with over 4 million SF of new casino space, two hotel towers, an 8,000-person arena, and a convention center, the New Brunswick Performing Arts Center and residential tower, and the Resorts World Casino and Hotel in New York City, which included the conversion and expansion of the existing 1950s-era Aqueduct Race Track facility.
