Alastair Low-Macrae

The leader of DeSimone’s engineering expert witness practice in the United Kingdom, Alastair is regularly instructed as an expert, advising lawyers, insurers, developers, owners and asset managers on a wide range of disputes. 

Alastair is a Chartered Engineer with experience in the design and forensic assessment of structures, including Higher Risk Buildings (HRBs), commercial developments, deep basements, complex refurbishments, and Grade I and Grade II listed buildings.

As an expert, he has investigated design, materials, and workmanship issues affecting residential, commercial, and retail developments. His experience includes preparing expert reports for adjudication and court proceedings, attending expert meetings, and contributing to joint statements.

Alastair remains a practicing engineer and is currently involved in a complex refurbishment project in central London, ensuring that his expert opinions reflect current regulations, construction practice, and emerging technologies.
