In response to challenging site constraints, the data center features an irregular footprint with staggered data halls and corridors. DeSimone’s engineers designed a steel-framed floor and roof, employing tilt-up engineering for the load-bearing concrete exterior walls—casting each panel onsite and lifting them into place with a crane system.
Steel-framed office components in each data hall house vertical circulation and loading docks that cut across the primary, tilt-up data center structure. Foundations consist of shallow, soil- supported spread foundations.
For an adjacent generator yard, we designed prefabricated enclosures for electrical equipment, and mounted cooling and mechanical equipment on individual dunnage platforms on the roof, screened by parapets and a steel screen wall.
Databank IAD-3 features an N+1 power and cooling design and runs entirely on renewable energy. It is AICPA SOC, HIPAA HITECH, PCI, and FISMA compliant as well as ISO 27001 certified.
