Premier Hospitality Features Wasl Tower

Premier Hospitality’s August issue features Wasl Tower, a nearly 1,000-foot, ultra-luxury tower on Dubai’s iconic Sheikh Zayed Road.

Positioned as a sustainable beacon in a harsh climate, the tower’s twisting form and ceramic façade minimize solar heat exposure and maximize passive shading and cooling—all while reducing wind loads by 20%.

DeSimone’s structural engineers joined the project during contractor bidding, completing a critical value engineering and design review, developing a material-efficient structural alternative and transforming a complex architectural vision into an innovative, buildable, and efficient reality. Our optimized design saved nearly 4,000 cubic yards of concrete, 26,000 metric tons of structural steel and an estimated $55M USD.

The article notes the placement of the tower—on the west side of Sheikh Zayed Road—allows it to bridge two areas of Dubai, the commercial area surrounding the Burj Khalifa, and the more pedestrian-friendly City Walk. Because of this distinct location, Wasl Tower’s design incorporates semi-public zones, shared amenities, and elevated gathering spaces.
