Premier Hospitality Features Omni Fort Lauderdale Hotel

August’s Premier Hospitality features the Omni Fort Lauderdale Hotel, part of the Broward County Convention Center expansion and the luxury hotel brand’s first location in the Greater Fort Lauderdale area.

The introduction of the hotel meets the long-standing demand for convention center accommodations, adding 800 rooms and 120,000 SF of meeting, ballroom, and events spaces intended to add convenience and boost tourism to the area. Designed by Nunzio Marc DeSantis Architects in collaboration with Balfour Beatty (design builder), Stantec (as AOR), and EoA Group (interiors), the hotel’s design is a contemporary architectural tribute to Florida’s stunning landscapes.

To create the expansive, column-free spaces, DeSimone’s structural engineers devised a system of 13 massive steel roof trusses—each spanning 150 feet and weighing up to 40 tons—and designed roof trusses stretching across 180 feet to create the spacious, open exhibit halls.

DeSimone’s engineers also designed the structure for the Broward County Convention Center expansion, which recently achieved LEED Gold certification.
