DeSimone’s Canstruction team has won yet another award—this time on an international stage! Our dinosaur sculpture, TRYceraSTOPS HUNGER, won the Structural Ingenuity Award at the Canstruction International competition. We also scored the Structural Ingenuity at the New York competition for this can-sculpture.
Conceived by DeSimone engineers and built from 5,316 tuna and bean cans by volunteers in our New York headquarters, along with friends at the Royal Bank of Canada, our life-sized triceratops head weighed over 1,600 lbs. Our team utilized parametric design and creative structural design to support its massive size and weight. After the competition, DeSimone donated the cans of food to City Harvest to benefit the food insecure in New York City.
Congratulations to the DeSimone NY Canstruction team on this recognition!
