Journal Square Urby in Premier Hospitality International

Premier Hospitality International, part of the Roma Publications group, recently featured Journal Square Urby in Jersey City.

In the article, DeSimone Associate Principal Michael Schwarz, who led our structural engineering team on the project, discusses how the structural design balances light-filled apartments with the generous shared spaces at the heart of Urby’s community living focus.

“DeSimone’s structural engineers played an integral role in designing a concrete structure that supports and optimizes the Urby brand, which seeks to redefine urban living through thoughtfully designed, community-focused apartment complexes with a focus on shared amenities. Our structural design helps balance 317 efficiently sized, light-filled apartments with abundant, spacious common spaces and amenities, including a roof deck, sundecks, indoor WFH garden room, parlor for private events, gym, yoga studio, and more.”

The two interlacing towers were designed by Amsterdam-based architect Concrete, in collaboration with HLW and the Urby Team. A striking, 14,000 SF mural, created by Felipe Pantone, connects the residential towers with the surrounding neighborhood, reinforcing the project’s goal to foster connection within the building and in the broader community.
