Dr. Karl Micallef Joins DeSimone's London Office
We’re pleased to announce that Dr. Karl Micallef, PhD, CEng, has joined DeSimone as an Associate Principal in our London office.
Karl brings extensive experience in structural resilience, composite and reinforced concrete systems, and performance-based design. He holds a PhD in Structural Engineering from Imperial College London, where his research focused on the blast performance of structural systems. This background continues to inform his work on tall buildings and complex, mission-critical structures.
Prior to joining DeSimone, Karl served as Associate Principal at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill in London, where he led structural design efforts on major international projects including Karlatornet Tower in Gothenburg, Nine Elms Square in London, and Octagon Tower in Birmingham.
He is also a Visiting Professor at the University of East London where he holds a Royal Academy of Engineering Visiting Professorship.
