In the Media: Danilo Nanni Featured in Bisnow

DeSimone principal Danilo Nanni, PE, SI, was featured in Bisnow, along with a panel of industry experts who discussed the unique challenges of developing on the waterfront at a BISNOW event in Miami last month.

Danilo emphasized the importance of addressing early in the design process the challenges posed by hurricane winds—and the benefits gained when the developer and architect partner with our engineers and wind experts during schematic design to better mitigate the impact of wind.

Referring to recent Miami waterfront projects he has led, including the award-winning MSC Cruises Terminal and the Aston Martin Residences, Danilo enlightened the audience about how the DeSimone team devises creative solutions to waterfront development challenges, designing resilient structures and façades that endure.

Some of the approaches he discussed regarding sea level rise included designing to resist higher flood loads by raising the finished floor elevation and designing an envelope that provides long-lasting protection. He cited the MSC Cruises Terminal as an example, which was designed to withstand a three-foot sea level rise.
