Celebrating International Women in Engineering Day 2026

In honor of International Women in Engineering Day, we celebrate exceptional women at DeSimone, all of whom exemplify this year’s theme—Engineering Intelligence.

Frequently underrepresented in STEM fields, women make up approximately 15-16% of employed engineers in the US, according to 2024 Census data, and 16.5% of employed engineers in the UK. These numbers are growing, however, due to increased visibility and representation, which encourage more young women and girls to consider engineering as a potential career path.

At DeSimone, women are at every level, on every team, and across every discipline—from serving as structural engineers and façade and building envelope experts, guiding teams of engineers through complex structural challenges, to leading forensics teams, project managing vertical transportation efforts, and managing offices.

The minds behind some of our most unique and successful projects, women across our global offices have contributed their talents to award-winning structures such as the repositioning of One Wall Street, one of NYC’s largest office-to-condominium conversions to date, the bold, curved, silhouette of Olympia Dumbo in Brooklyn, and the MSC Miami Cruise Terminal at PortMiami, the largest in the world, among others.

Women in our offices have also won awards, with Senior Project Engineer Alexandra Teniuch, PE, listed as one of 2025’s Commercial Observer Top Young Professionals and both Alex and Project Manager Megan Schmitt were both on the New York Real Estate Journal’s 2024 list of Women in Commercial Real Estate.
